You, the Faculty Advisor/Sponsor, in accord with applicable department, school, and university policies

What is the purpose of an internship stipend?
To help students financially during their internship. It is NOT intended to cover all cost incurred for an internship. Stipends help defray transportation, housing, and meal costs.

Who is eligible for an internship stipend?
Degree seeking undergraduate students who are participating in the Career Center's internship program

What is my role as a Faculty Advisor/Sponsor?

  • Refer students to Career Center for Internship Orientation and appointment with Internship/Employment Advisor
  • Review, approve, and sign learning agreement with student in collaboration with internship advisor
  • Determine the credit value for the internship experience
  • Collaborate site visits with the internship advisor
  • Determine the student's grade for the internship experience

What is the role of the Career Center Internship/Employment Advisor?

  • Assist students in preparing for internship experiences
  • Collaborate with Faculty to approve internship sites
  • Consult with Faculty and student on learning agreement
  • Work with Faculty on internship site visits
  • Ensure all internship evaluations are completed

Who approves the student's resume prior to internship application?
The Career Center Internship/Employment Advisor, who is looking at the resume from marketplace perspective, offering helpful feedback on resume format and content for specific fields. Faculty Advisors/Sponsors are strongly encouraged to offer students feedback on the resumes as well.
